Work with Forms Saved in Excel
Once you have saved a form in Excel, you can re-open it at any time. Whether you connect to Smart View or not depends on what you want to do with the data in the form.
You must be connected to Smart View to:
- Load data to CalPlanning
- Update data in Excel with most current data from CalPlanning
It isn't necessary to be connected to Smart View to:
- Add columns to the right or rows below the form data
- Share data with others
- Modify data but not load it to CalPlanning
Connect to Smart View
If you are running Smart View from your desktop, recently used connections will be saved. From the Smart View ribbon, you can select the Panel button to see recently used connections or you can open the drop-down menu from the Connections button and select Recently Used.
Note: If you're using Smart View from Citrix, recently used connections won't be present because Citrix is a shared desktop. In this case, you'll need to follow the usual procedure for connecting as described in the Accessing Smart View chapter.
Refresh Data
Caution: Do not refresh if you have data in the form that you want to load to CalPlanning. Refresh will overwrite the data in your Excel file. You'll learn more about this in the Saving Data in Excel and CalPlanning chapter.
