Smart View Connections
Smart View allows you to connect to 3 distinct applications:
- Oracle® Essbase
- Oracle® Hyperion Planning
- Reporting and Analysis Framework
Oracle® Essbase is the application that allows you to query the CalRptg, CalPlan, or HCPRptg databases to create your own ad hoc queries / reports.
Connect to Smart View in Excel
1. Open Excel
2. Go to the Smart View ribbon and select the Panel button
4. Enter your User Name and Password (CalNet ID and Passphrase)
5. Select Connect
6. Select Oracle® Essbase from the Select Server drop-down list
7. Expand the tree as shown below until you can see CalRptg - EssbaseCluster-1_CalRptg_CalRptg
8. Double-click on CalRptg - EssbaseCluster-1_CalRptg_CalRptg
9. Select Ad hoc analysis
Result: An ad hoc query from the CalRptg cube is created. In the next section, we will select members from the dimensions so that the query will deliver data that is relevant to us.
