The VC Finance Office of the CFO is kicking of FY2018-19 with the first of our quarterly CalPlanning tool training courses for our newest members to the Finance Community. Ongoing training sessions are now open for enrollment in the UC Learning Center for both our CalPlanning Reporting and Planner roles:

1. Introduction to CalPlanning

The CalPlanning tools (CalPlan, CalRptg, HCP, HCPRptg, SmartView) are available and the FY18 Forecast Working is open. For more details, please review the associated release notes.

CalRptg, HCPRptg, and Smart View are now available with the FY17 Forecast and FY18 operating Budget Planner Submission versions available for reporting. CalPlan and HCP (FY18 Forecast Working) are scheduled to reopen in the first two weeks of July. See complete release details below.

There are seats available in our upcoming CalPlanning Reporting training session being held on Wednesday May 17th  from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm in University Hall, room 28.

This class is the second in a series of quarterly basic CalPlanning training modules designed for both our Planner and Reporting Only roles.  

There is one more Working Budget Lab available before FY2017-18 budgets are due. Finance staff are invited to visit the CalPlanning website to sign up for the session on Wednesday, May 3, 1-3pm. Computers provided!

XTRA! Smart View Ad Hoc Basics 3 HCPRptg

During this Friday's, March 17th Working Budget Lab we will practice creating Smart View Ad Hoc compensation

plan and actual data queries connecting Essbase to the HCPRptg cube.

Come down to University Hall, room 28 to create your FY2017-18 plans in a safe, supported computer lab. Work alongside your finance peers and with the support of your trainers and CalPlanning tool and budget process subject matter experts to refine both your FY17 Forecast and FY18 Operating Budget for Non-Compensation, Revenues, Transfers and Compensation Expenses.

The CalPlanning FY17 Forecast and FY18 Operating Budget are now available with refreshed Employee and Position data from HCM and additional enhancements.

These classes are designed for our newest finance professionals (hired after February 2016) who have the Planner role in CalPlanning AND have attended the two prerequisite classes - Intro to CalPlanning and CalPlanning Reporting.

In conjunction with Quarterly Reporting, we are launching a new Quarterly Forecast process to help campus leadership more accurately assess if we're on track to meet our financial goals. These quarterly forecasts provide the opportunity to make material modifications to your existing plan, update leadership on how the campus is performing against its financial goals, and inform planning for the remainder of the year.
