Coming soon to CalPlanning - actualized compensation data and simplified HCP

January 30, 2018

CalPlanning Community,

We’re excited to announce that the next phase of the Actualized Forecast & Simplified HCP project will go live in February. As part of this release, FY2017-18 Forecast Working will be available with: actualized compensation data (non-compensation data has already been actualized); consolidated fund buckets; and simplified HCP. As in prior years, we’ll also be opening the FY2018-19 Operating Budget Working and refreshing HCP employee data from HCM. In order to make these changes, CalPlanning will be closed for edits from Wednesday, February 7 to Wednesday, February 21.

CalPlan and HCP unavailable 2/1 - 2/2

Please note the CalPlan and HCP planning tools will be unavailable Thursday, February 1 and Friday, February 2 while the Financial Planning & Analysis team reviews and adjusts the Q2 Flash Forecast.

What is new

  • Compensation data will be actualized for all closed months.

  • Process for updating salary, adding an employee, and planning for DeptID adjustments will be streamlined.

  • Effective Start and End dates will be removed from HCP, allowing for compensation planning by month.

  • Position data will be removed from HCP and replaced with job code data.

  • All compensation data will be converted to the five high-level fund buckets (unrestricted, designated, restricted gift, restricted endowments and FFE’s, contracts and grants). All lower-level fund buckets will be removed from  CalPlan and HCP.

Training resources

We’ll be offering HCP classroom training for newly-hired CalPlanning Planners. For our existing Planners - sign up now for demonstrations of the simplified HCP in February. Registration for demos and registration for training are available on the CalPlanning website
