Accessing Your Files When Using Smart View with Citrix

About Citrix

Citrix is a service that you can use to launch Smart View and CalPlanning (CalPlan and HCP) with appropriate browsers and plugins automatically applied behind the scenes. This way you won't have to worry about updating your software or browser to maintain access.

When you use Citrix, you are running applications from a virtual desktop, not the desktop of your computer. Thus, the printers and folders you usually use do not appear at first glance. There are a few extra clicks required to navigate to your printers and/or folders.

Launch Citrix and Smart View

1. Go to https://citrix.berkeley.edu

2. Log on with your CalNet ID and password.

3. Double-click the Smart View button on the desktop.

4. If the Smart View button is not on the desktop, follow steps 5-7.

5. Click the Plus button.

6. Click the All Apps link in the menu.

7. Click the Smart View link. The Smart View button will be added to the Citrix desktop.

Save Files from Smart View

1. To save an Excel file from Smart View, go to the Excel menu and select File / Save As.

2. Select the This PC option.

3. If a Citrix Workspace – Security Warning window pops up, select Permit all access.

4. Select the drive where you would like to save the file. For many people, the H: drive is their home drive, the location where Document and Picture folders are stored.

5. If none of the Network Drives take you to your folders, select the Local Disk (C:) drive.

6. Select the Users folder in either the left or the right pane.

7. From the Users folder, select the folder with your user name. You should see your folders.

 Open Files in Smart View

  1. To open a file in Smart View when using Citrix, go to the Excel menu and select File / Open.
  2. Select the This PC option.
  3. Select the drive where your file is stored. For many people, the H: drive is their home drive, the location where Document and Picture folders are stored.
  4. If none of the Network Drives take you to your folders, select the Local Disk (C:) drive.
  5. Select the Users folder in either the left or the right pane.
  6. From the Users folder, select the folder with your user name. You should see your folders.
