Reports with Prompts

Running Reports with Prompts

Some reports will prompt for member selections prior to running the report. A prompt allows for variable selections, or the option to choose more than one member. The system will suggest a selection, but you always have the option to accept the default member(s) or choose your own member(s) if desired.

Generate a Report with a Respond to Prompt

1. Double-click the template for the report you want to generate

2. Fill in the Preview POV dialog box

3. In the Respond to Prompt dialog box, click the Member Selection button

Respond to prompts

4. Expand tree to display the member(s) you want to include and check the boxes. The benefit of the respond to prompts selection is that you can select some, but not all of the children. If you wanted to see all of the children of 1_VCBAS, you could select that single member and then expand it in the compiled report.

5. Click > to move the members to the Selected pane, and click OK to complete the section. The members you selected are shown in the dialog box. If you want to type in your selection instead of using the Member Selection dialog box, check the Edit Member Names box below the selection. When you have the members you want in the Selection text box, click OK to generate the report.

Changing the Members Selected in a Prompt

If, after running the report, you’d like to change the members that you selected in the Respond to Prompts dialog box, go to the menu and select View \ Respond to Prompts to re-open the dialog box. Change your selection and click OK to regenerate the report.
